Work Search Requirements
New Mexico Work Registration Program
New Mexico requires that everyone collecting unemployment benefits register with the New Mexico Workforce Connection within 14 days of applying. The goal is that this portal will help with job search efforts, which are required to continue to collect unemployment. Within the site, you will also find multiple resources that can help assist you in your job search and to file weekly claims.
You will want to capture the details of the contacts made on the Work Search Log throughout the period in which you are collecting unemployment. The state of New Mexico requires that you make at least two work search contacts a week and the log can help you keep record of all of your contacts. You may at some point during your unemployment be selected for an audit by the Department of Labor. If this happens, you will receive a letter requesting documentation of your work search activities to be sent to the UI Operation Center.
Unemployed? We want to help.
What You Need for Work Registration
You will need to create an account on the New Mexico Workforce Connection website to register. When setting up your account, you will need to provide personal information as well as have your resume and work history accessible so that you can set up searches based on your qualifications. It is also helpful to spend time going through the available resources as it may be beneficial to spend time looking at the training opportunities and jobs available, some of which might help lead to a different career path than you originally expected to take.
