Calculating Florida Unemployment Benefit Amounts
Once you meet the wage and work requirements for RA benefits, your Weekly Benefit Amount (WBA) and Maximum Benefit Amounts (MBA) are easily calculated.
Determine your Weekly Benefit Amount
To determine your Weekly Benefit Amount (WBA), divide the amount of your highest gross wages earnings quarter (hyperlink to term) by 26.
Example: If your highest gross wages earning quarter was $5,500, then your weekly benefit amount is $211.54.
Example: If your highest gross earning quarter was $7,500, your weekly benefit amount is NOT $288.46. You cannot collect more than the state-determined minimum, so your weekly benefit amount is capped at $275.
Determine your Maximum Benefit Amount
The Maximum Benefit Amount (MBA) is the highest amount of unemployment benefits you can receive in any given benefit year. To determine your MBA, divide your total base period (hyperlink to term) earnings by four.
Example: If your base period gross earning was $14,000, your MBA for the benefit year is NOT $3,500. You cannot collect more than the state mandated MBA of $3,300 in any given benefit year. The cap for any gross wages base period earnings is $13,600. Your benefit year is 365 days from the time you initially file a claim for unemployment insurance benefits.
