Kansas Work Registration Program
When you apply for unemployment benefits in Kansas, you will be be registered automatically with the Kansas’ work registration program. KANSASWORKS is an online portal that gives those looking for employment, the ability to search for jobs, create a resume, and receive alerts on jobs of interest. If you are receiving unemployment benefits, utilizing the portal is encouraged because you are required to maintain records of the contacts that have been made in order to find employment. Although work registration is automatic, you are responsible to maintain your account information through the Kansasworks website.
When filing weekly, you will be asked to verify that job searches have been completed eligibility reviews are conducted periodically. When this occurs, you will be asked to submit records that indicate the specific activities completed on the dates provided. If a log cannot be provided, it will be determined that you are ineligible and may be asked to return benefits received.

What You Need for Work Registration
There is no specific information required to apply for work registration on KANSASWORKS as you were already automatically enrolled when you applied for benefits. You are, however, required to capture accurate information when recording your work activities though.
A template log can be found at GetKansasBenefits.com, but it is not required. Any format is acceptable as long as the following data elements are included:
- Date of contact
- Employer name
- Mailing and residential addresses
- Phone
- Fax
- Type of contact
- Person and the name of the employer contacted
- Results of each employer or job application contact
