New Jersey Unemployment Insurance
New Jersey unemployment insurance is managed by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. This group levies taxes on employers who pay wages of at least $32,000 during the year. The withholding rate is currently 0.705 percent, on all wages, with a maximum tax of $229.83 for 2016.

Unemployment insurance is designed to help provide employees with some help if they are let go from a job for a reason outside of their control. It doesn’t cover all of your lost wages, but about 60 percent of your weekly wages.
Anyone who is eligible for unemployment can apply to see if they qualify. A certain number of criteria are set up to help gauge qualification. These eligibility criteria will be discussed more in-depth below.
