The state of unemployment in Washington DC has been climbing a steady positive incline in 2018. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 5,000 new jobs and a total of 799,500 jobs were added to the District in October 2018. The unemployment rate also decreased by 0.1 percent in October compared to September.
Fields that were particularly successful included the educational and health services sector, which added 3,200 jobs in October 2018. Currently, this sector employs more people than any other in the District with employment at 137,500 jobs. The Financial Activities sector increased by 400 jobs in October with jobs in this industry up 8.33 percent from a year ago.
