Unemployment compensation is calculated based on specific formulas in each state. The same is true in Hawaii. Your unemployment benefit amount includes your Weekly Benefit Amount, as well as your Maximum Benefit Amount. Both dictate how much unemployment benefits you will receive during your claimed weeks.

Calculating Hawaii Unemployment Benefit Amounts
Determine Your Weekly Benefit Amount
To calculate your WBA, divide the wages of your highest quarter in the appropriate base period (discussed above) by 21. This amount will be at least $5 and no more than $569 in 2016.
EXAMPLE: If the wages of your highest quarter were $10,000, you would divide that by 21 to get $476.19. Your WBA would then be rounded down to the nearest dollar for $476.
Determine Your Maximum Benefit Amount
Your MBA is your WBA multiplied by the maximum numbers of benefit weeks, 26. However, it may be lower based on alterations caused by your weekly claims.
EXAMPLE: If your WBA was $476, as in the example above, your MBA would be $12,376. The absolute MBA is $14,794 ($569 x 26).
