Work Search Requirements
Ohio Work Registration
When you apply for Unemployment Insurance with ODJFS, once your initial application is submitted, there are certain work search activities you must complete each week in order to qualify and continue to collect benefits.
Unemployed? We want to help.
Ohio’s Work Registration Program
When you file an initial application for Unemployment Insurance Compensation, you are required to search for work and must complete reemployment activities at OhioMeansJobs.com. Everything must be completed by the dates listed on your New Claim Instruction Sheet.
If you do not complete the following required steps, your benefits will stop until you comply accordingly:
- Create or upload a resume with specifics about your work history.
- Complete the "Career Profile" assessment to identify careers that match your skills and interests.

NOTE: If your application for Unemployment Insurance benefits shows an expected return-to-work date, verification from an employer will be required. If you are a student or in a union, you must show proof of status, as well. If ODJFS verifies your claim application, your work search requirement could be waived.
